Google Analytics on Your Desktop

After yesterday’s bashing of Google’s only crappy tool, I have to talk about one of their better tools.

I just downloaded and tested Google Analytics AIR beta, powered by Adobe AIR. It runs on your desktop and uses it’s own custom API to interact with Google. The screenshot below includes data from my new blog.

Abobe Air: Google Analytics

The tool worked very well. It didn’t have all of the bells and whistles that are avail be from the Google Analytics web app, but it did have most of them. It’s certainly does a great job of pulling the parts that are most used, and is a excellent way to get a quick website health check. One of the best things about this tool is the ability to quickly switch between multiple profiles. I have between five and ten profiles that I will rotate through during the course of a day, and this tool has the potential to save me a lot of time.

Looks pretty cool from what I can see. I was a little hesitant as relying on a local application with my constantly mobile position seems counter-productive, but maybe I will check it out.

Nice little spike in the traffic there too.
